What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is still the only true permanent hair removal method and the only treatment recognized by the FDA. Electrolysis has been around for more then a century and is proven safe for all skin types. No other hair removal can claim this success.
The procedure involves the utilization of a fine sterilized disposable probe which is inserted into the hair follicle (an already existing opening). A small amount of electrical energy is applied to the base of the follicle, which destroys the hair growth tissue.
What causes unwanted hair growth?
Excessive hair growth can be attributed to many things. The most common causes are hormonal changes, blood supply (tweezing and waxing) and heredity. Any biological change in life can increase hair growth, such as puberty, pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and aging. Side effects of medication, stress or an endocrine disorder may also contribute to excessive growth.
How many treatments does it take to be permanent?
Electrolysis is not immediately permanent and requires a series of treatments. There are many different factors that effect the results of how long it takes to achieve permanent hair removal such as: the area being treated, how dense the hair is, hormonal imbalance and the clients consistency with the recommended treatment schedule plays a big part in speeding up the process of electrolysis.
Why should I choose electrolysis over other temporary methods like laser and waxing?
Laser is considered a temporary method and has not been evaluated for long-term safety of the patients skin and health.
Waxing, tweezing and threading are alike and can increase hair growth and ingrown hairs. Depilatories and shaving cause skin irritation and hair growth returns quickly. These temporary methods may seem inexpensive but cost more in the long run and are found to be inconvenient.
Is electrolysis uncomfortable?
Most clients find the first treatment much more comfortable than they had anticipated. Although, everyone has a different tolerance level and some areas are more sensitive than others, adjustments can be made to help the treatment be more comfortable.
How much will it cost?
15 minutes=$40.00
30 minutes=$55.00
45 minutes=$70.00
60 minutes=$85.00
The amount of time needed for treatment is determined by the size of the area being treated and how much hair there is. Committing to the recommended treatment schedule is important to achieve effective results. The cost is a small price to pay for the physical and psychological benefits from being free of unwanted hair.
